Prizefighter 2 line-up announced at Metro Radio Arena - 15/07/2008

THE eight fighters in the next thrilling Prizefighter Heavyweights event have been announced.

David Ferguson, who reached the semi-finals of the first competition, will be among the boxers at the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle on September 12.

The rest of the line up is Chris Burton, David Ingleby, Ian Millarvie, Darren Morgan, Pele Reid, Sam Sexton and Lee Swaby.

Once again it will be broadcast live on Sky Sports and shown on stations around the world.

“We’re going to put together the greatest show of boxing we’ve ever seen, bar none,” said Matchroom Sport Chairman Barry Hearn.

“Prizefighter has reinvented my enthusiasm for professional boxing and those fortunate to attend Prizefighter Heavyweights 1, which was banged out, will have seen one of the most entertaining and compelling evenings in boxing.

“I’ve done 503 boxing shows in 25 years and Prizefighter 1 was one of the best shows I’ve ever seen.

“We’re surrounded by some excellent warriors and i’ve got no idea who is going to win here on September 12.

“This is professional boxing with UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) added in. I’m not a UFC fan, I don’t think it has the same skill involved as in the boxing sense but UFC is becoming very popular with youngsters.

“I think Prizefighter can be the British version of UFC.

“This is going to be seen all over the world and people that saw Prizefighter 1 were stunned.

“I’m really looking forward to it. It’s going to be a fantastic night out and the atmosphere will be rocking. We’re going to have some fun.

“This is entertainment.”
