LEGEND Holyfield to perform draw as big names line-up for October show
Prizefighter returns in October with the fourth edition of the Heavyweights division hoping to follow Audley Harrison in lifting the title and gate crashing the World Heavyweight scene.
Eight contenders will battle for the £32,000 winner's cheque on Saturday 9 October at York Hall, Bethnal Green, but with Harrison on the brink of securing at World title fight with David Haye less than a year after winning Prizefighter, climbing the rankings ladder and landing a title fight could be the real prize on offer live on Sky Sports.
The full-line up for the night will be announced at the beginning of September, but Harrison's sprint to the top has already attracted some of the biggest names in the division to the 14th edition of Barry Hearn's eight-man, one night tournament. Four-time World Heavyweight Champion Holyfield could hold the key to victory on what promises to be a thrilling night in East London when he performs the draw next month.
"You only have to look at Audley Harrison as proof at just how Prizefighter can fast track a fighter's career," said Matchroom Sport managing director Eddie Hearn – who also manages Harrison. "Winning this event raises your profile to another level and the winner of Prizefighter Heavyweights IV will be bang in line for a shot at the title."
The new season of Prizefighter brings another first with the introduction of the Prizefighter Podcast presented by Steve Bunce. The first edition will be available to download on iTunes early September and will feature interviews with Holyfield, Harrison and the contenders for Prizefighter Heavyweights IV.
Tickets for Prizefighter Heavyweights IV are available now at £35 (unreserved), £60 (ringside) and £100 (VIP) – call Matchroom Sport on 01277 359900.
