STEVE Bunce grills the contenders for Heavyweights IV in latest podcast

The second edition of the Prizefighter Podcast with Steve Bunce is now available to download for free on iTunes.

Bunce joined the fighters at the Sky Sports promo day and interviewed the eight in the starting line-up and the two reserves ahead of the Heavyweights IV showdown at York Hall, Bethnal Green on Saturday October 9.

Matt Skelton and Michael Sprott are on a collision course to meet in the final and both men talk about the night, which Skelton called “the X Factor of boxing”. Kevin McBride spoke about his victory over Mike Tyson and revealed what Muhammad Ali said to him on the same night, while his opponent in Prizefighter, Franklin Egobi, lifts the lid on his Latvian heavyweight title defeat.

Ali Adams faces Skelton in the opening fight of the match and he tells Bunce how he made the journey from Iraq to London and professional boxing. Sprott faces Danny Hughes, the Sunderland fighter who lost to Audley Harrison in the semi-finals the last time the Heavyweights fought, and he explains why that defeat to Harrison was a good thing for his career.

Declan Timlin and Shane McPhilbin complete the line-up and both men are confident of upsetting the odds on the night – Irishman Timlin hopes that a Prizefighter win will lead to the Irish heavyweight title while Nottingham man McPhilbin talks about fighting Tyson Fury in the amateurs.

There’s a battle of a different type before the night itself, as six girls face a public vote to see which two of them will be ring card girls on the night and for the rest of the third series of Prizefighter.
